“When speaking to your County Veteran Service Officer feel free to address questions that you might have which may be outside of the scope of VA disabilities. Quick Reaction Force: Removing Barriers connects 870 with needed resources

Quick Reaction Force: Removing Barriers is a veterans benefits fair held virtually and quarterly in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. It connects veterans and their families with participating community-based service providers. Services include employment, education, health care, child care, tuition assistance, utility and housing assistance and mental well being counseling for veterans, their families and surviving spouses. At the event, organizations interact with attendees to provide eligibility criteria, answer questions and set appointments.

Women Veterans Program Manager honored as Outstanding Woman in Texas Government

Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Women Veterans Program Manager Dr. Krystle Matthews, Ed.D, HRD, has been honored as a 2020 Outstanding Woman in Texas Government by the Texas Governor’s Commission for Women. A letter from Governor Greg Abbott announcing the award cited Matthews’ community involvement at the Texas Veterans Commission as well as her dedication and service to the state and to Texans. Claims helps veteran secure retro-payment over $886,000

A south Texas veteran whose disability claim was originally denied by the VA recently had a successful appeal by working with Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Claims Benefits Advisors (CBAs) which resulted in a tax-free retro payment of over $886,170.

The Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) is seeking experienced, HUB certified Veteran-owned small businesses and new Veteran-owned small businesses to pair in a new HUB Mentor/Protégé Program.
