November 11th, Veterans Day, is a special day set apart so that all can celebrate and honor the men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces to protect the freedoms we enjoy.

We should always remember our veterans’ selflessness, commitment to duty and service to all Americans. Showing our appreciation is as simple as saying “Thank you for your service.”

Over $317,000 retro awarded to Blue Water Navy veteran’s widow

In September 2022, a Mineola, Texas area widow of a Navy veteran was awarded over $317,000 in retro pay for a Dependent Indemnity Compensation Claim, plus monthly payments going forward. Her husband had served in Vietnam and was a Navy retiree.

Veteran employment success overcomes barrier of homelessness

Navy veteran Belinda Wright, after honorably transitioning in May 2022, became unemployed, homeless and with little savings for her and her child. She met TVC Employment Services Veterans Career Advisor (VCA) and Army veteran Beverly “Bev” Davis at the Workforce Solutions Center in Irving in August. Davis immediately connected Wright with needed support services to find housing and alleviate her immediate financial burdens.
