Justice Involved Veteran finds freedom through Veteran Treatment Court

A justice involved veteran in the El Paso area, Mr. Llamas, was found in violation of his probation, jailed and facing losing his freedom as well as his family. Off-Base Transition Training Roadshow reaches rural areas

The Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) West Texas Veterans Employment Services (VES) team decided it was time to take Off-Base Transition Training (OBTT) from the big city and out to reach veterans in smaller towns.

The OBTT program consists of a series of employment-oriented workshops that were developed by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). From GI Bill® user to university veteran services director

Veteran education generally brings to mind the GI Bill®* and Texas’s Hazlewood education benefits being used to attend college. There’s more to veteran education than just using these benefits to attend classes and programs. Universities, their courses and programs must be approved and certified for veteran education benefits use. Students must also be certified with the VA, so they can use their education benefits to pursue higher education. There are also rules about how those benefits can be used.
