PACT Act veteran eligibility expanded, Texas leads U.S. in filing PACT Act claims

AUSTIN, TX – More veterans are now eligible for health care benefits following the VA expansion of the PACT Act* to cover all veterans exposed to toxins and other hazards during military service. This expansion now makes eligible those who served at home as well as abroad. Additionally with this expansion, more veterans can enroll directly into VA health care without any need to first apply for VA benefits. The new rules took effect March 5, 2024.

Employment Services prepares justice involved veterans for return to community

Katasha Gray and Mike Calhoun of the Texas Veteran Commission’s (TVC) Veteran Employment Services (VES) North Texas District team prepare justice involved veterans to return to their communities with job search skills and job readiness training, plus employment leads.

On the hunt for job seeking veterans

TVC Employment Services partners with other organizations in producing career advancing events for veterans. At the Texas VFW Foundation Veteran Career Expo, held mid-January in Corpus Christi, 31 employers were on site, 10 on-the-spot job offers were made, 8 interviews were scheduled and over 140 follow-ups were planned. The event attracted over 130 attendees, of that more than 60 were veterans and their family members.
