Meet the new Chairwoman of the Texas Veterans Commission

I am honored to have served as a Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Commissioner since 2018 and now being appointed Chairwoman. I look forward to supporting and advocating for TVC and all Texas veterans.

I’m a veteran myself, having served in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer onboard the USS Mahan and Enterprise.

Welcome new commissioners & farewell departing members

Governor Greg Abbott appointed two new commissioners, Mary Lopez Dale of Cedar Park and Mike Hernandez of Abilene, to the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) in place of outgoing Commissioners Eliseo “Al” Cantu, Jr. of Corpus Christi and Dan Moran of Houston whose terms have expired.

Texas Veterans Commission seeks applicants for advisory committees on veteran services

The Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) is seeking qualified applicants to serve on its advisory committees. Advisory committees serve the TVC by making recommendations and/or providing key information and materials to the Commission.

The Texas Veterans Commission has established the following three advisory committees which have member positions available:

  • Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) Advisory Committee
    This committee evaluates grant applications and provides recommendations to the TVC on the awarding of grants to organizations that provide direct services to veterans.

Earning top employment services awards from the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) and the American Legion, Department of Texas are Katasha Gray and  Tanya Huling. Both work in the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Employment Services North District.

When eight women veterans recently completed their Employment Plan to overcome hiring barriers, West Texas Veteran Career Advisor (VCA) District Coach Tremayne Hubbard celebrated them. The veterans were recognized at the annual Women Veterans Day celebration hosted by Hubbard.
