New, veteran owned Bay Area Brewing Company serves Rockport family style

It’s the newest business to open in Rockport; and, it’s veteran owned. The Bay Area Brewing Company is “Rockport’s first family friendly nano craft brewery,” said Diedra Amaya, co-founder and Navy veteran. “It’s a veteran-owned family haven. Our family-friendly space offers relaxation, board games, and a dedicated play area for kids.” The beverages available offer something for everyone in the family including craft beers, ciders, local wines, and craft sodas.

Author fills gap in books for military children

A lack of contemporary books for military children led Sarah Doran, an Army veteran and daughter of an Army chaplain, to become an author. It would also lead to self-publication and forming her own business.

During her military service, she met her husband. After the military, Doran studied Elementary Education at the University of Missouri – Kansas City.

Overcoming injuries to become employed

TVC connects with National Guard

TVC connected with Texas National Guard members at events hosted by Texas Military Department’s Soldier and Family Readiness Program in late February 2024.

Among the TVC programs there was Veteran Employment Services, represented by Homero Prado, Jr. He worked to connect job seeking Guard members and veterans with employment resources in their hometowns.
