Women Veterans Program Manager honored as Outstanding Woman in Texas Government

Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Women Veterans Program Manager Dr. Krystle Matthews, Ed.D, HRD, has been honored as a 2020 Outstanding Woman in Texas Government by the Texas Governor’s Commission for Women. A letter from Governor Greg Abbott announcing the award cited Matthews’ community involvement at the Texas Veterans Commission as well as her dedication and service to the state and to Texans. The Governor publicly announced the award on April 7.

An Army veteran, Matthews supervises the TVC team of Women Veteran Coordinators around the state and is an active community volunteer. She mentors college students, provides health and wellness education and helps with food and clothing drives.

“I love advocating for my fellow veterans and it is a privilege to serve as Manager of the Women Veterans Program. I am honored to be recognized by my executive director at TVC and the Texas Governor’s Commission for Women,” said Matthews.
