Persistence pays in pursuing claims

A Gulf War Navy veteran in Val Verde County filed his first Claim in 2013. He was awarded for his left ankle; but, denied on a handful of other conditions. He eventually came to TVC for assistance with his Claim and the VA process. This began a journey that included the Board of Veterans Appeals (BVA) in April 2022, a remand for more documentation, supplemental Claims citing Clear and Unmistakable Errors and more.

Veteran Entrepreneurs win at Business Beyond the Battlefield

A couple of entrepreneurial veteran business owners, who were helped by the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Entrepreneur program, earned $1,000 prizes at a Second Service Foundation business pitch competition. The pitch competition was part of the Business Beyond the Battlefield Conference, held in early October at the University of Texas in Arlington. VMHD contributes to national Justice Involved Veteran model

TVC Veterans Mental Health Department (VMHD) is contributing to the National Institute of Corrections’ first Veteran Intercept Model to minimize the risk of veterans getting more deeply involved in the justice system.

The intercept model begins with preventing entry into the justice system and identifies opportunities in the criminal justice system to intervene in hopes of reducing consequences and presenting alternatives for Justice Involved Veterans.

Texas Veterans Commission is Accepting Applications from Veteran-Serving Organizations for Grant Funding

AUSTIN, TX – The application period is open for the Texas Veterans Commission’s (TVC) Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) grant program. An estimated total of $30 million in grant funding is available. These grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations and local government agencies that provide direct services to veterans.
