Surviving spouse of Vietnam veteran benefits from PACT Act

A Harlingen area Army veteran who served in Vietnam and Germany from Nov. 13, 1967 through Nov. 1, 1970 came to the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) to file his initial Claim on May 1, 2013. “His Claim was for exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam,” said TVC Claims Benefit Advisor (CBA) and Army veteran Rene Coronado. “It was originally denied because the PACT Act was not yet in effect.”

More than $2.9 million in grants awarded to 14 Veteran County Service Offices

TVC’s Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) awarded 15 grants totaling $2,980,000 to 14 counties to support services provided through their Veteran County Services Offices (VCSO). The grants help fund a variety of assistance provided by VCSOs including financial assistance services, housing and transportation services.

Over $5.1 million in Grants to 15 Alamo, Hill Country Organizations for Veteran Services

On October 5, 2023, the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) presented $5,110,000 in grants to 15 organizations for providing services to more than 6,790 Alamo and Hill Country area veterans and their families. The presentation was made by TVC Chairwoman and Navy veteran Laura Koerner at the Comal County Historic Courthouse in New Braunfels.

Over $6.4 Million in Grants presented to 24 Central Texas Organizations for Veteran Services

On October 3, 2023, the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) presented $6,445,000 in grants to 24 organizations for providing services to approximately 5,354 Central Texas area veterans and their families. The presentation was made by Commission Secretary and Army veteran Mary Dale at the Hays County Annex in San Marcos.
