Employment Plan to overcome hiring barriers highlights celebration

When eight women veterans recently completed their Employment Plan to overcome hiring barriers, West Texas Veteran Career Advisor (VCA) District Coach Tremayne Hubbard celebrated them. The veterans were recognized at the annual Women Veterans Day celebration hosted by Hubbard.

An Employment Plan provides a written step-by-step guide and actions to help overcome identified Significant Barrier(s) to Employment (SBE). The plan helps get the veteran job ready to find employment. Additionally it provides moral support at a very critical time in their life. The Employment Plan is a signed mutual agreement between a Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) VCA and a eligible veteran, spouse or family member who has Significant Barrier(s) to Employment (SBE) as set forth in the Veteran Program Letters on the Department of Labor website.

Joining the celebration were TVC Claims, Health Care Advocacy (HCA) and Women Veterans programs. This year, due to health safeguards, the event was held virtually on Zoom. Hubbard plans to continue the annual event Women Veterans Day event in Abilene and spread it to other locations in the West Texas District.
