Veteran replaces 16 Year Military Career Pay with new employment

Photo of David Deitt

After 16 years of service, David Deitt decided to leave Active Duty Army, in the fall of 2021. Deitt, pictured, attained a Project Management Professional Certification from Onward to Opportunity (O2O) before his End Term of Service in February 2022. However, Deitt found it challenging to create a viable resume and needed to develop good interview techniques. He met Texas Veterans Commssion (TVC) Veteran Career Advisor (VCA) and Navy veteran Justin Fry at his Workforce Solutions Office, in Plano in May 2022. Fry helped Deitt produce a tailored resume. They conferred with TVC Veteran Employer Liasion (VEL) and Army veteran James Gutierrez to identify opportunities to network with veteran friendly employers and to find job matches.

Veteran makes radical decision & replaces 16 Year Military Career Pay!

After 16 years of service, David Deitt decided to leave Active Duty Army, in the fall of 2021. After his transition, he was found to be eligible for our JVSG (Jobs for Veterans State Grants) Program after an initial assessment performed by Justin Fry, Veteran Career Advisor (VCA), in Plano, Texas. The assessment revealed that Mr. Deitt had one significant barrier to employment, Transitioning Service Member.  Although, he attained a Project Management Professional Certification from Onward to Opportunity (O2O) well before End Term of Service in February 2022, Deitt found it challenging to come up with a viable resume and needed to develop good interview techniques.

VCA Fry, pictured, gave Deitt extensive Labor Market Information (LMI) for the Dallas-FT Worth area and the State of Texas. It was agreed that Individualized Career Services would benefit Deitt and an Employment Plan was opened. VCA Fry helped Deitt produce a tailored resume and facilitated a Case Conference with James Gutierrez, Veteran Employer Liaison (VEL) in Plano, Texas. Effective Case Conference follow up helped to identify opportunities to network with veteran friendly employers; producing great job matches to which applications were made.

As a result, Deitt was hired on as a Senior Learning and Development Consultant at Wells Fargo Bank. The salary offered was able to completely replace his active duty pay he was receiving prior his transition. Deitt is very grateful for the assistance and impressive teamwork of Justin Fry and James Gutierrez, pictured.
