“More than five years ago I was entrusted with the honor of serving Texas Veterans, their families, and survivors. I have nothing but fond memories of working with my fellow TVC Commissioners, the passionate and professional TVC employees, local government, employers, and non-profit organizations to improve the well-being of our veterans,” said TVC Commissioner Kimberlee Shaneyfelt, pictured. “During my time at TVC, we expanded our services to veterans throughout the state, integrating remote services and partnering with many local service provider organizations.  I firmly believe Texas leads the nation in Veteran support programs and I am grateful to Governor Abbott for affording me this great privilege.”

Shaneyfelt was appointed as a Commissioner of TVC in June 2018 by Governor Greg Abbott. In July 2020, she was appointed as Secretary. Then, in August 2022, she was appointed as Vice-Chair.

“I would like to commend Commissioner Kimberlee Shaneyfelt’s dedicated service and advocacy for all Texas Veterans, their families and survivors during her term which will have a positive impact on their lives well after her departure from TVC,” said TVC Chairwoman and Navy veteran Laura Koerner.

“It has been an honor to serve with Commissioner Shaneyfelt and we appreciate her commitment, leadership, and constructive contributions that she brought to the Texas Veterans Commission,” said TVC Executive Director and Army veteran Tom Palladino. “She will be greatly missed, and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.”

While called to pursue other endeavors, Shaneyfelt plans to stay active in non-profit work in the Denton area and will continue finding ways to serve veterans in a volunteer capacity.

Prior to TVC, Shaneyfelt served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years, retiring as a Colonel. Her final role in uniform was as Commander, 17th Training Wing, Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo, Texas.
