Dan Moran is a decorated Marine Corps combat veteran and was a Commissioner of the Texas Veterans Commission from March 2011 through December 2019. He is founder and CEO of Moran Enterprises, Inc., a holding company with investments in the engineering, procurement, construction, and private security industries. The company also offers consulting services. Additionally, He spearheads Plaza Construction’s Texas Regional Office, based in Houston. Plaza Construction is one of the nation’s foremost construction management and general contracting firms.
Moran earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University and a Graduate Certificate in Advanced International Affairs with a concentration in National Security from the George Bush School of Government and Public Service. While an undergraduate student at Texas A&M, Moran was a member of the Corps of Cadets, The Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, Ross Volunteers, SEAL Platoon, and served as the Combined Band Commander his senior year in the Corps. He has also participated in the Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School and earned a Graduate Certificate in Finance from Tulane University. He is a graduate of the Executive MBA Program at Mays Business School, Texas A&M University.
He is a combat decorated veteran who served in the Global War on Terror as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is a recipient of the Purple Heart, Navy Commendation Medal with Valor, Navy Achievement Medal with Valor, and the Combat Action Ribbon. Moran medically retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Captain after five and a half years of service as an infantry officer of Marines.
Moran is a member of the Hope for the Warriors Board of Directors, a Spokesman for Helping a Hero, and a member of Marine 4 Life. In December 2010, he was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to serve on the 2011 Texas Inaugural Committee. Dan and his family reside in Cypress, Texas.
