The American Legion, Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) partnered to present a statewide, virtual career fair on September 15, 2020. The event turned out bigger than expected, featuring more than 220 companies and attracting approximately 780 job seekers.
“It was recognized at American Legion national level and has become model for American Legions in other states. Other states are now contacting our American Legion about how we produced and promoted the event,” said Jim Martin, TVC Veterans Employment Services Director.
Martin and TWC Veteran Leadership Program Representative Gabriel Lopez made a presentation on the career fair, its production and results to the National Association of Workforce Agencies’ Veterans Committee weekly update call with other states. This sparked interest in producing similar events from other states.
