The Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Veteran Employment Services (VES) in the Coastal Bend area recently added six new employers to the companies VES works with to increase veteran hiring. Additionally, Coastal Bend VES reconnected with over a dozen other employers. Making contact with the new and reconnected companies was Coastal Bend VES Veterans Employer Liaison (VEL) and Army veteran James Wilson. He connected with the companies while preparing for and participating in the Hiring Red, White & You event held in November 2021.
“VELs brings an excellent working relationship that provides employers first-hand knowledge of veterans that are interested in their company while advocating the reasons why veterans should work for their companies,” said Wilson, pictured.
Hiring veterans brings benefits to their employers including a tax break, as well as highly skilled, quality employees.

In its past program year, from July 2020 – June 2021, TVC Employment Services outreached to 6,586 employers across the state to assist these businesses in matching veterans with jobs available.
“I find it very important to keep employers engaged and aware of the veteran community and remind them of the beneficial qualities veterans bring to their company,” said Wilson.
