“Just because a buddy says he or she is getting a particular benefit does not mean you are going to be eligible for the same benefit. Everyone’s circumstances are going to be different,” said Michaelle Davis, Comal County Veteran Service Officer (VSO) and Air Force veteran. “The best advice I can give to anyone needing assistance or information about the VA and programs is get your information from a reliable source such as a VSO or the VA directly.”
Her team is such a reliable resource in New Braunfels with monthly visits to Canyon Lake and Bulverde. “The majority of what we do are Claims, compensation, disability pension, death pension and burial benefit claims. We can assist and refer with information on just about anything VA related.”
Davis has served as the Comal VSO for over 21 years. She and her team, Assistant County VSO Ken Egersheim and Administrative Assistant Christine Babkirk, focus their work on those who live in the county; but are ready to point others to the right resources.

“Due to our workload, we do limit our appointments to Comal County residences or if they live in Guadalupe County but have a New Braunfels mailing address we can assist them. We do make field visits on a case-by-case basis. For those who do not live in Comal County, we will give them the number to the County Service Office in the county they live in, or refer them to the Texas Veterans Commission.”
The Comal County Veteran Service Office is based in New Braunfels at 1297 Church Hill Dr., Ste 209. Their hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. They can be reached by phone at 830-221-1170. Monthly satellite locations of Canyon Lake and Bulverde are open from 9:00 a.m.– 3:00 p.m.
