The first Public Safety and Diversity Career Fair, held in Austin in early December 2023, featured “42 predominantly law enforcement agencies eager to hire qualified applicants,” said Paul Julio, TVC Employment Services Central Texas District Outreach Coordinator and Army veteran. The event attracted over 100 job seekers including veterans.

The career fair was coordinated by TVC Veterans Employer Liaison and Army veteran John Posey and Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Terrion Rogers. The event aimed to provide career opportunities, help employers meet or exceed recruiting goals and promote diversity within the public safety sector.

“John’s passion for bringing employers and job seekers together was apparent They created a career fair that was organized to break down barriers and create a platform for open dialogue, networking, and an overall welcoming atmosphere for job seekers,” said Julio.

“Helping veterans make a natural transition in law enforcement was the best,” said Posey. Pictured at right is Posey visiting with Austin Police Department’s recruiter at the event. Other agencies showed off their cool rides at the event.
