Over $7.6 million in grants presented to 27 north Texas veteran service organizations

On September 7, 2021, the Texas Veterans Commission’s (TVC) Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) presented over $7.6 million in grants to 27 organizations in north Texas for providing services to over 4,000 veterans.

The grant recipients and their services include:

General Assistance Grants

Achieve (Citizens Development Center) – one grant for $200,000 to fund employment support services for veterans in seven counties.

On September 2, 2021; the Texas Veterans Commission’s (TVC) Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) presented over $2.5 million in grants to seven organizations for providing services to over 1,200 veterans in and around Abilene, Concho Valley and the Panhandle area.

The grant recipients and their services include:

Concho Valley Center for Human Advancement – one General Assistance grant for $300,000 to fund financial assistance services for veterans, dependents, and surviving spouses in a seven counties.

Homeless veteran finds a way out with Goodwill and Fund for Veterans’ Assistance

Housing, family law, disability issues, estate planning & more are among free civil legal assistance available to eligible Texas veterans from Lone Star Legal Aid, Houston Volunteer Lawyers and Texas A & M School of Law – Family & Veterans Advocacy Clinic. These organizations are supported by grants from the Texas Veterans Commission’s Fund for Veterans’ Assistance.

Each organization offers its own variety of pro bono legal services and each serve various counties the state.

Commissioners announce 147 grants totaling over $33.4 million & serving over 32,500 veterans

The Texas Veterans Commission announced the Fund for Veterans’ Assistance grant recipients on May 13, 2021 during their FY21 3rd Quarter Commission Meeting.

For the upcoming grant period (July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022), there were 147 grants awarded, totaling $33,430,000.
