Veteran’s Claims rating increases 30% after contacting Texas Veterans Commission

An increase in Claims compensation rating from 40% to 70% for a San Antonio area veteran is a recent example of how Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Claims Benefits Advisors (CBA) assist veterans.

The Air Force veteran had been out of the service for over 24 years, since 1996. With a 40% Claims rating, he was receiving around $40 a month or about $480 annually.

“He was referred to me by another veteran we had assisted,” said CBA Diane Bowie. “We looked at what his conditions are and submitted a new claim for a condition to the VA.”

The veteran’s rating was increased to 70% in October 2020.

“Now he is receiving $1,678.45 per month, over $20,000 annually,” said Bowie.

Bowie is among TVC Claims team members located in over 45 communities across Texas. The TVC Claims team helps veterans navigate the VA claims process, will file the Claim, assist with appeals and advocate on veterans’ behalf. They assist veterans with Compensation Claims, Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) Claims and Survivors Pension Claims. TVC CBAs are subject matter experts in VA administrative law and service-related medical conditions. They are accredited by the VA to represent Veterans throughout the process of applying for benefits.

CBAs are available to assist within current pandemic health precautions using remote methods including phone and email. Find the TVC Claims Benefits Advisor near you and make an appointment at https://www.tvc.texas.gov/claims_appointments/

“Before you give up, give TVC a try,” said Bowie, pictured.
