About The Presentation Meeting

Meetings will begin at 8:00am each day, and presentations will begin at 8:30am. Applicants for each grant program will be scheduled to present based on the grant program. Remote and Media-Only presentations will be scheduled together, at the end of the presentation block for the grant program.

The final presentation meeting schedule has been posted below, and assignments were emailed to participants on January 21, 2020.

Please note that while TVC staff has provided organizations below with an approximate presentation window, schedule delays will occur. The order of presenters will also be posted outside the presentation room on-site. Presentations will run until all scheduled presenters for the day have been called.

Best Practices For Presentations
  • 1-2 page executive summary
  • Consider having one person make the presentation
  • Express why your organization is different:
    • Your unique services
    • Your partnerships
    • Your sustainability
    • Your critical services needed
    • Your impact to date
  • Practice your FVA Grant Application presentation (3 minute time limit is FIRM)
  • Accuracy of statistics & demographics are key
  • No penalty for not appearing
  • Address items on slide template (we recommend completing and including the TVC slide template/information in your presentation)
  • No handouts, brochures, organizational “swag”, binders, or business cards other than the 1-2 page executive summary
Slide Template

Be sure to include the information highlighted in yellow on the slide template in your presentation:

  • Slide title: Organization Name
  • Left column: How long will your beneficiary wait for services after completing the application?
  • Left column: Describe the direct services the grant will fund.
  • Left column: Describe what additional things the grant will fund.
  • Left column: Limit on project service costs per client (if any):
  • Right column: Grant Program Name
  • Right column: Amount Requested
  • Right column: Proposed Project Service Category
  • Right column: Number of Beneficiaries To Be Served
    • Veterans
    • Dependents
    • Surviving Spouses

Frequently Asked Questions

I have clicked on the links to sign up to present but the page is not showing anything.

Please view this page in Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to sign up.

What is my Eligible Application ID?

This is your Application ID in GovGrants. For example; AP-FVA_20-001

The form doesn’t give me an option to select a time. Can you please advise if I may be missing something?

You are not missing anything. Following the presentation sign-up deadline, you will be notified of an estimated window for your presentation. We recommend you arrive at least 30 minutes early, in case the meeting is running ahead of schedule.

During the presentation of our program, would one of our staff be able to advance the slides?

If you are present at Thompson Conference Center, a clicker will be available to advance the slide deck on your own. If you are presenting remotely, you will verbally cue staff to advance the slide deck (and practice with staff during the Technical Rehearsal on January 23).

Are we allowed to have more than one PowerPoint slide or does everything have to fit one that one slide?

Presenters may have more than one PowerPoint slide. While the only hard limit is what you can fit into the 3-minute time limit, we recommend your slide deck be shorter rather than longer. For example; 5 slides rather than 25 slides.

The executive summary is to be submitted along with the media file by 5 p.m. on the 17th, correct?

Correct.

So, this means that the presenter will not have to distribute that; the summary will already be part of the committee’s notebooks.

Also correct.
