Stories for Creative Forces (Temple Texas)

Texas Folklife presents Stories for Creative Forces, a two-day workshop in Temple with special guest folklorist Eric Eliason.
Veterans, service members and their families are welcome to attend a storytelling workshop. The two-day workshop is free to attend with advance registration – register at the Eventbrite ticket link. Registration ends August 2 at 5 pm.
Workshops are designed to help current and prior service members express their stories and folklore (customs and traditions) through audio production training. All participants will gain experience in research and interviewing techniques, audio recording, logging, transcribing, writing composition, and story crafting with audio field recordings.
This is a two-day workshop from appx. 10 am – 3 pm on the weekend of August 10-11. The full schedule will be emailed to participants who register through Eventbrite. Registration ends August 2 at 5 pm. Facebook RSVP is not registration.

About the Guest Instructors:
Guest instructors include military folklorists Eric Eliason and Tad Tuleja. Together they edited Warrior Ways: Explorations in Modern Military Folklore (2012), illuminating the ways in which members of the armed services creatively express the complex experience of military life.
Finished stories will be presented at a public listening event in conjunction with VSA Texas at Temple Cultural Activities Center and distributed on the Texas Folklife Podcast, Texas Folklife’s SoundCloud, Public Radio Exchange (PRX), and local radio stations.
