October 4, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm
Suicide Prevention Month at the VA this year is collaborating with Austin Rowing Club to help people connect more with their bodies, their families, and their community. This is a free, family friendly exercise fair for current and former service members and their families. No fitness level requirements and all types of bodies are welcome. On the water rowing lessons as well as rowing machines will be available. In addition, there will be info and free demo classes from: Castle Hill Fitness, Warriors at Ease Yoga, and more! Children 8 yrs and older can row; children less than 8 may come on the boat if they can sit independently and wathc their parent/ family member row. There will be various classes through out the morning. Come learn or participate.
Parking: In general there is no parking at Waller Creek Boathouse and only a few spots on Trinity between Cesar Chavez and the boathouse. The best parking option is the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC), 600 River Street. Park in the west end, head down the hill, and take the hiking and biking trail across the Waller Creek to the Boat house. This location is also accessible by multiple Cap Metro Routes and there is wheel chair accessible drop off.
