NIXT networks Employment, other organizations for better veteran service

Networking Informational eXchange/Training (NIXT) is how veteran services providers are collaborating and sharing knowledge to improve veteran services in south Texas. NIXT is a weekly meeting of the Texas Veterans Commission’s (TVC) South Texas District Employment team to which other organizations and TVC programs are invited to present information. This creates a network between all participants and keeps the Employment team informed on directing veterans for various services beyond Employment. Recent NIXT participants include Texas Veterans Network (TX Serves), San Antonio Legal Services Association (SALSA) and from TVC Claims, Southwest District Manager Mike Jaeger.

“The result is that we as a team stay connected and up-to-date on services that are provided to our veterans and their family members. Learning this information allows us to provide better service to the veterans we encounter, by being able to direct them to such resources if needed. We also are able to troubleshoot and share in MS Teams,” said Laurie Pimentel-Johnson, TVC Employment South Texas District Outreach Coordinator (pictured).

Organizations interested in participating in an upcoming NIXT meeting should contact Charles Benson, TVC Veterans Career Advisor (VCA) District Coach, by phone at  210-517-2705 or email Charles.benson@tvc.texas.gov .
