Accredited Institutions*
Must be accredited by a national accrediting agency recognized by the United States Secretary of Education. “Candidate” status is not a basis for approval as accredited.

Non-accredited Institutions*

Employers for a Registered Apprenticeship
Includes theoretical instruction as well as training on-the-job. Programs must meet the Department of Labor’s apprenticeship standards.

Employers for On-the-Job Training
Requires a minimum of six months, but not more than 24 months of supervised training on-the-job.

*Please note that non-public (private, profit, or non-profit) schools requesting approval for programs not leading to a standard college degree must have operated as an educational institution for a minimum of two years to be considered for approval to train veterans. Student enrollment records must be provided to verify the two-year period of operation. [Reference 38 CFR 21.42511]
