The Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Transition Alliance is a network of organizations that assist the transition of service members from active duty. Representing the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) at the JBSA Transition Alliance’s meeting on August 18, 2020 was TVC Chairwoman and Navy veteran Laura Koerner. At the meeting, Koerner noted the highly competitive job market and encouraged that veterans should be connected with TVC Employment Services to hone job searching skills and to connect with employers. Additionally, she stressed the importance of transitioning military being informed about TVC services to more easily connect with the benefits they have earned. Koerner praised TVC staff for their response to the COVID-19 health emergency and how their new remote service capabilities had increased the number of veterans served. “Veterans receiving their benefits is a boon to their community and Texas,” said Koerner.
