Job prep workshops leading to job fairs provided by Raising the Flag employment events

The new Raising the Flag employment program prepares job seekers with workshops such as resume writing and interview skills. Then, it provides the opportunity to put those to use with quarterly job and career fairs. Raising the Flag employment events are available to veterans, active duty and transitioning military and their spouses.

GED mark on DD214 not enough, veteran needs diploma to get job

Vietnam-Era Veteran Eloy Vasquez’s job search ran into a snag this winter when he was asked for proof of his high school education. Though Vasquez could show having GED marked on his DD214, the potential employer required physical proof such as a diploma or GED certificate.

Employment Services connects with those in poverty & homeless in Dallas

When nonprofit Operation Care International held an annual event in Dallas to assist those in poverty and the homeless, the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Veteran Employment Services (VES) North Texas District Team and Woman Veterans Program joined this opportunity to connect with veterans.

The annual event, Christmas Gift held Dec 19, 2022, provided employment networking as well as financial, healthcare and housing assistance plus other services.

Navy veteran Belinda Wright, after honorably transitioning in May 2022, became unemployed, homeless and with little savings for her and her child.
